England squad continued

Phil Jagielka - #4 CB, and Hodgson instead of picking 2 RBs and 4 CBs picked 1 RB, 3 CBs and Phil Jones who can play both

Daniel Sturridge - Had a very poor 2nd half of the season, has struggled to start for Chelsea

Adam Johnson - A fringe player for Man City, could only be picked in the same capacity for England and Milner is better in that role

Joe Cole - will not get picked until he plays regularly in premier league again

England squad

I’m going to attempt to logically explain the England squad selection for the Euros. Then I shall attempt to explain why certain players haven’t been included.

Joe Hart - From the available Goalkeepers, he is by far the best England have to offer

Robert Green - He has made mistakes but has had a good season with West Ham and has plenty of England experience

John Ruddy - Has had a great season with Norwich, second best English keeper in Premier league (excluding Foster and Robinson)

Glen Johnson - Has been standard England right back for years now, season hasn’t been great but still a good right back and comfortable playing for England

Phil Jones - Can play in multiple positions, mainly right back and centre back, could be a better defensive option at right back

John Terry - The best English centre back

Gary Cahill - Plays well alongside Terry, has played and scored for England recently

Joeleon Lescott - Had a great season with Man City, second best English centre back

Ashley Cole - Standard England left back, proved his quality against Barcelona

Leighton Baines - Been great for Everton, showing both defensive and offensive qualities, could overthrow Cole for #1 left back (#3 shirt)

Theo Walcott - Still got the pace to trouble slow defences, his final ball is improving

Steven Gerrard - Even though tactically I don’t see how he fits, he is captain so he has to get picked, plus he can lead and inspire the team

Frank Lampard - Best English attacking midfielder, very experienced at international level

Scott Parker - a great leader, very good at connecting defence to attack

Gareth Barry - was a key player for Man City this season, best English holding mid.

James Milner - the classic England sub, he can play in any position in midfield and play well

Ashley Young - one of the players of the season, very efficient on the left wing, getting goals and assists

Stewart Downing - Had a poor season, but still the #2 English left mid

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain - the wildcard, can come off the bench and do what Walcott used to, has a great shot from range

Wayne Rooney - do I need to explain?

Danny Welbeck - the perfect partner for Rooney to play at his best

Andy Carroll - has had a poor season, but showed signs of form in the last few weeks, has scored for England before

Jermain Defoe - has played and scored in a World Cup, could link well with Carroll

Now for the players who weren’t selected

Grant Holt - not enough England experience, Hodgson obviously wanted to take one big striker and went with Carroll who has more England experience

Micah Richards - Last month or so has lost his place in Man City team to Zabaleta, this is the only reason I can see that he wasn’t picked, other than he hasn’t played for England a lot recently

Aaron Lennon - Very similar to Walcott, Hodgson was only ever going to pick one of them

Michael Carrick - Hodgson has picked two attacking mids (Lampard and Gerrard) and two holding mids (Barry, Parker), Carrick in #3 holding mid

Peter Crouch - Again, Hodgson chose Carroll as the big man, Crouch hasn’t played for England recently

Kyle Walker - injured

Darren Bent - injured

Jack Wilshire - been injured all season

21 Jump Street Review

21 Jump Street

The story follows two guys who were on opposite ends of the social spectrum during High School but become friends after both entering the Police Academy. Due to their youthful looks they are put undercover in a High School.

There is really two stories here, the first one is the two guys (Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill) trying to survive High School again, the second one is Tatum and Hill trying to stop a new drug from spreading. Conveniently enough the villain of both of these stories is the popular kid at school (Dave Franco). The two story threads nicely move along and come together at the end with an exciting finale but there is nothing new here.

Tatum and Hill’s characters are very well established showing what they were like at High School before taking us through the police academy, completely explaining how they became friends. The development of these two is one of the highlights of the film seeing how they tackle school all over again after essentially seeing how the other half lived.

This is a very, very funny film with a standard story and sub-par acting and music but the excitement and humour make this far from a standard or sub-par film, there are multiple scenes which will long stay in the memory.

Rating: 71%
